WARE MALCOMB ANNOUNCES DESIGN COMPLETED FOR TOYOTA TECHNICAL TRAINING CENTER

Phoenix, Arizona – Ware Malcomb Phoenix is proud to announce that design is completed and construction has begun for Toyota Motor Sales, USA, Inc.’s Technical Training Center. The center will be located in Phoenix, Arizona, near the city’s University District. Upon its completion, it is anticipated that the project will achieve LEED® for Commercial Interiors Certification at the Gold level.

Ware Malcomb is providing interior architectural design services for this 10,262 square foot space that will occupy an existing office/warehouse building. Following renovations, the building will serve as a state-of-the-art instructional facility where regional Toyota technicians will receive hands-on diagnostic and electronics training. An extensive training shop is featured in the rear portion of the building, with the remaining space housing two classrooms, a lounge, an office, kitchenette, restroom facilities, a conference room and storage/IT areas.

Ware Malcomb has successfully partnered with Toyota to complete similar training facilities in San Ramon, California, Chicago, and Denver. Consistent with the design in those facilities, the aesthetic for the Phoenix renovation project features clean, bold, modern detailing, incorporating Toyota’s sustainability-focused design guidelines and finishes.

Sustainable design elements that will lend to the pursuit of the LEED® Gold Rating include the use of low-emitting materials with a high percentage of post-consumer recycled content, the re-use of several building components, employment of water efficiency and air quality controls, a 100% “green power” energy contract, and an exemplary recycling program for the facility. Ware Malcomb Principal, Brock Grayson shares, “the design of this space accurately reflects the quality, environmentally-responsible image synonymous with the Toyota brand.”

Construction for the Training Center began in August 2008, with completion projected for December 2008. The Weitz Company of Phoenix, Arizona is the General Contractor for the project.
