This fuel is given this name to denote that 85% of it consists of ethanol and 15% gasoline. This fuel is seen as a practical alternative to gasoline, not only because Ethanol is made out of corn and other grains that grow in large quantities in the US, but also because this fuel is mostly renewable.

Chevrolet, one of the country’s leading brands, has no fewer than 12 different models that are fitted with E85- flexible engines. General Motors plans to make half of all its annual vehicle production E85 or bio-diesel compatible by 2012.

General Motors, which has over two million flex-fuel vehicles on the roads, claims that it is the leading carmaker in the country in this respect.

Rick Hendrick Colonial Chevrolet also stocks another fuel-saving model, the 2008 Chevrolet Tahoe. This is equipped a hybrid engine, which works on a propulsion system that can run on either electric power, engine power or a combination of the two. This engine reduces gasoline consumption by up to half.
