Yorkshire Folklore Book Reprinted as Facsimile Reproduction

First US edition of Patricia Crowther's “Witchcraft in Yorkshire”

2008-07-25, Harvest Shadows Publications
A fascinating collection of folklore and history of witchcraft, “Witchcraft in Yorkshire” was originally published by Dalesman Books, Yorkshire in 1973. A small book of the type normally found in tourist gift shops, the book described customs, legends, spells, and beliefs of the Yorkshire area of the UK.

The book has been out of print for some time now, its information lost to researchers and those interested in the subjects of witchcraft and local lore.

Harvest Shadows Publications is publishing the book as it was published originally, with the language, observations, and commentary intact. Even the back cover photo is from that era. The front cover alone has been updated in tribute to the importance of this work.

The foreword to this new edition puts this book in modern perspective, stating, "The small book you are now holding in your hands was an early effort by one of the first publicly announced practitioners to contribute to a fuller picture of the witch, and of witchcraft. The text provides samplings of how witchcraft and folk-magic manifested themselves, over many years, within the borders of Yorkshire."

This is a limited, numbered edition, printed in the United States. It is being printed in its original format as a small-sized paperback.
