Old Colony Elderly Services Announces Summer Caregiver Series

DATELINE: PLYMOUTH COUNTY AND AVON, EASTON AND STOUGHTON, MA.

Old Colony Elderly Services’ (OCES) Family Caregiver Support Program, in collaboration with Southeast Rehabilitation and Skilled Care Center and Hospice Services of Massachusetts, will hold a free Caregiver Series at the Southeast Rehabilitation and Skilled Care Center, located at 184 Lincoln Street in Easton.

OCES is a private, non-profit agency that provides valuable resources and services to seniors, families and caregivers in Plymouth County as well as Avon, Easton and Stoughton.

On Wednesday, July 23, 2008 at 2:00 p.m., a free and interactive seminar entitled “The Caregiver Experience” will be presented by The Reverend Emily Heath, MDiv., ThM . The seminar is designed to provide education and guidance to caregivers; topics include the challenges of caregiving to a critically ill loved one, caregiver stress and caregiver self-care.

On Wednesday, August 27, 2008 at 2:00 p.m., a free “Caregiver 101” seminar will be led by Nicole Welch, LCSW. This seminar offers education and guidance to help caregivers broaden their awareness about resources, services, and programs; increase their knowledge on how to find and access services; and help them enhance their health and well being while managing caregiver responsibilities.

OCES operates more than 12 programs that serve elders, their families and caregivers in the towns of Abington, Avon, Bridgewater, Brockton, Carver, Duxbury, East Bridgewater, Easton, Halifax, Hanover, Hanson, Kingston, Lakeville, Marshfield, Middleboro, Pembroke, Plymouth, Plympton, Rockland, Stoughton, Wareham, West Bridgewater and Whitman.
