Tiger Lily Owners Grace Cover of National Magazine Featuring Their Innovative New Line

CHARLESTON, S.C.— Manny and Clara Gonzales, husband and wife owners of Tiger Lily, an upscale Charleston florist, are featured on the cover of the April issue of Floral Management, the magazine of the Society of American Florists. The article focuses on the company’s new high-end Black Market Designs line of floral arrangements launched in February.

The article, titled “Mining for Gold,” discusses how the owners faced the decline in consumer spending not by reducing prices, but by creating a luxury line of flowers to target their most upscale clients. The Black Market Designs line, whose prices range from $150 to $350, offers one-of-a-kind arrangements of exotic, hard-to-find flowers sourced weekly from as far away as Israel, China or Holland.

Since launching Feb. 1, Tiger Lily has sold at least one arrangement a day and even delivered one to actor Kevin Costner, who is in town filming a movie.

“We hope this article about our new line and business philosophy will be an inspiration for our peers to think outside of the box and continue to set the bar higher for floral service,” says Manny Gonzales, owner of Tiger Lily. “We’re excited the line has been popular so far and look forward to more growth.”
Located in downtown Charleston, S.C., Tiger Lily is an upscale florist, taking inspiration from the area’s long legacy of flowers and gardens to bring Charleston residents the highest-quality, most impactful arrangements. Only working with the world’s best suppliers and growers to ensure the freshest and most beautiful blooms, Tiger Lily’s arrangements are long-lasting and carefully designed to meet the unique vision, whether traditional or modern, of each customer. Clients include some of the city’s finest hotels and restaurants, such as the AAA Five Diamond, Mobile Five Star Sanctuary at Kiawah Island and High Cotton restaurant, in addition to handling hundreds of weddings, corporate events, funerals and more every year. The company’s many accolades include The Knot Magazine’s Best of Weddings 2007, runner up to Florists’ Review’s America’s Best Retail Florist of 2006, Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce Small Business of the Year 2004 and one of Elegant Bride Magazine’s Top Wedding Designers for 2005.
