ParaScale Named to InformationWeek’s “20 Cloud Computing Startups You Should Know” List
ParaScale highlighted for its innovate approach to cloud storage
2008-09-24, ParaScale Inc.
ParaScale, Inc. (www.parascale.com), a startup company developing cloud storage solutions for deep content archives and rich-media content in traffic-intense applications, announced today that it has been named one of InformationWeek‘s “20 Cloud Computing Startups You Should Know.” InformationWeek recognizes that young companies are emerging as software and service providers in the cloud, and that these newcomers can help deploy and manage IT resources in new ways. The publication currently features the companies and the technologies they offer in the September 22nd, 2008 edition.
The companies were selected by Editor John Foley of InformationWeek. In his article, Foley takes a look at many aspects of the cloud, and leads off with a description of ParaScale and its value proposition. The article quotes George Crump, an analyst with StorageSwitzerland and blogger with InformationWeek: "Every so often, you've got to start with a blank sheet. It's very hard to add a significant new capability to existing products."
“We are honored that InformationWeek graciously picked us as one of 20 startups in the very broad Cloud Computing arena, and the only Cloud Storage infrastructure player,” said Cameron Bahar, CTO and co-founder, ParaScale, Inc. “InformationWeek underlines the importance of this emerging space and spotlights our approach to deliver a highly scalable, self-managing, affordable clustered storage solution.”
“We are delighted to make InformationWeek’s list of 20 Cloud Computing Startups,” added Sajai Krishnan, CEO, ParaScale, Inc. “With ParaScale’s recently launched trial, enterprises can experience a private cloud behind their own firewall, and service providers can rapidly prototype public cloud storage services without investing in R&D. It is eye-opening to realize that cloud storage can be deployed very quickly, even with existing hardware, and thanks to Moore’s law, scale economies can be realized with very small clouds. Streaming media and video businesses are starting to see that by building their own storage clouds, they can tailor the storage nodes for very high parallel bandwidth.”
