The Union of Construction Allied Trades and Technicians are campagining to overturn the Law Lords recent ruling that saw an end to compensation for pleural plaque sufferers.

In the United States an experimental method of demolishing buildings without first removing the asbestos has been trialled in a populated area for the first time. This could lead to a sea-change in the way asbestos is managed during demolitions.

Wigginton School is the latest in a series of asbestos cases involving disruption to schools. The National Union of Teachers (NUT) has repeatedly expressed concerns that their members have contracted asbestos-related diseases and believe that more than 100 teachers have died from exposure to asbestos through their work.
