London, 24th July 2008: Wicked Uncle, the toysite that sells cool presents for kids, has today publically condemned the shameless exploitation of Great British uncles - by greetings card companies.

Michael O'Shea, founder of Wicked Uncle said: "This day was created solely to sell more greetings cards – it doesn’t honour or recognize the great work of uncles across the UK. Great uncles mean so much to our children – everyone should have one and especially at birthday or Christmas time!"

Wicked Uncle is calling on families everywhere to celebrate the day and make it more of an occasion – showing Uncles they are highly valued members of their families. Uncles are often the backbone of a successful Christmas -buying children the really cool stuff that parents may disapprove of. Without uncles where would the sales of drum kits be? Uncles also let kids stay up late, watch action movies and eat take away pizza and loads of chocolate. They also provide a much needed antidote to the ‘traditional’ family circle.
