Charleston, S.C. (July 4, 2008) – On July 4, 1776, the Continental Congress ratified the Declaration of Independence, the document in which the Thirteen Colonies declared their independence from Great Britain and became known as the United States of America. Since that time, many U.S. veteran and military heroes have, and are proudly serving America, fighting for the freedoms that our nation guarantees, preserving our independence.
Americans please honor and thank our U.S. veterans and military not just on July 4th but all year long.
“I cannot emphasize enough the importance of our veterans and military personnel, and what they mean to America. Spending time with family and loved ones, enjoying a film, sports event or show, walking through the park or beach, festivities on the holidays...whenever we take part in any of these wonderful things, our U.S. soldiers, both past and present hold a special place at our table, our 4th of July BBQ, in our huddle on the field, in our recollections and more,” says VetFriends.com founder and U.S. Veteran Dale F. Sutcliffe. (VetFriends.com is the largest site for reuniting military veterans and has over 869,000 members nationwide.)
Thank you to our Veterans and brave members of the U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps and Coast Guard; you are all heroes of our nation. These heroes know that “Freedom isn’t Free” and many of them have paid the ultimate price in protecting our freedoms. If it weren’t for these brothers and sisters in arms we wouldn’t be able to BBQ, relax with friends and freely travel this beautiful country. So as you sit back and enjoy your day off from work, take a minute and realize the sacrifices of others who have made this possible. Let’s bring patriotism back to America and reclaim the American spirit that started this great nation.
