UK Energy Saving Pleased that Tetra Pak Recycling Facilities are on the Increase

Tetra Pak recycling rates now stand at about 85% in the UK, a massive improvement on last year according to UK Energy Saving.

2008-09-02, UK Energy Saving
Last summer UK Energy Saving published a press release raising concerns about the lack of Tetra Pak recycling facilities in this UK. The consumer website, http://www.uk-energy-saving.com is pleased to be able to report, however, that the situation has changed dramatically since then with more facilities springing up around the country.

Approximately two billion Tetra Paks are used in the UK every year and in mid 2007 recycling rates stood at only 4%! At that time Tetra Pak were in the process of encouraging councils to offer more recycling bins and kerbside collections, and these moves have paid off. In the last few weeks UK Energy Saving was contacted by the Company with the latest recycling statistics which now stand at about 85%!

Hayley Jones, Web Marketing Director for http://www.uk-energy-saving.com, has commented on this improvement. “We were extremely pleased to hear that such increases in Tetra Pak recycling have occurred over the last year. This has undoubtedly dramatically decreased the volume of Tetra Paks going to landfill sites as well as making available more recycled materials. The next step would be to have Tetra Pak recycling facilities in the UK to reduce the environmental impact of transporting them abroad.”

More information can be found at the UK Energy Saving website at http://www.uk-energy-saving.com/recycling_tetra_paks.html which also includes links to find out about the availability of recycling facilities around the country, whether it be bins or kerbside collections.
