The Institute of Payroll Professionals held it’s annual Payroll Conference in September and celebrated the 24th yes of this event. Building on the success of last years conference, which focussed on ‘beyond payroll,’ the focus of this years conference was to provide a wide range learning sessions and raise the profile of the payroll profession.
Activities for Payroll Professionals attending the event covered some of the following areas:
• Strategic payroll
• Multi country payroll and shared service
• Payroll management
• Legislation updates
• Skills for payroll
• Introduction to payroll
The programme consisted of over 30 workshops, learning sessions, training courses, and a ‘Mods and Rockers’ inspired dinner as well as the 5th Payroll and Pensions Excellence Awards.
One of the delegates, Fiona Chamberlain commented that: “I have attended all 24 of the IPP’s annual conferences and this has been one of my best experiences. The sessions and workshops that were offered this year were very informative and relevant and I always look forward to the evening entertainment and awards ceremony. The conference offers a forum for payroll professionals at every level to discuss important issues within the industry, as well as an opportunity to network in a sociable setting.”
There was a Quadrophenia Evening on the 2nd of September which included a dinner and a themed peir type entertainment with disco. The event provided a great opportunity for attendees to network with peers, speakers, exhibitors and the IPP staff.
Many of the members from the American Payroll Association (APA), Canadian Payroll Association (CPA) and Irish Payroll Association (IPASS) attended the event.
