DUBLIN, OHIO, August, 2008 – Embassy Suites Columbus-Dublin, one of the top-rated Columbus hotels in Dublin, Ohio, lined up the welcome party on August 6, 2008 to meet and greet Arizona Senator and republican candidate for President, John McCain. Joined by his wife Cindy McCain, the Senator stopped by the Dublin hotel to round out a two-day tour through Ohio and to use one of the property’s suites for a mini-press conference.
Senator McCain's tour of Ohio included stops at a town hall meeting in Lima, a fundraiser in Liberty Township, a factory tour in Jackson, and a private event in Wilmington where he met with officials for DHL air-freight operations. A visit to the southern Ohio city of Chillicothe garnered media attention when McCain made an unannounced arrival at the main fire station and delivered pizzas to the firefighters. A crowd of nearly 100 people gathered around the station, many choosing to stop after seeing the distinctive "Straight Talk Express" bus.
The Senator thanked the firefighters for their continuing service as countless camera phones danced above the heads of the crowd, and he further singled out members of the military and their families for additional commendations. Media coverage the following day told the story of a very impressed Chillicothe.
Back in Dublin, Senator McCain and his wife were gracious enough to pose for a photo with hotel staff just before the conference. Depending on the results in November, this photo could come to be an even more prized possession.
