(PASADENA, CA) – Set in San Marino, the sponsor reception for “Once Upon a Hillsides,” this year’s theme for the annual benefit for Hillsides, the foster care children’s charity in Pasadena, was a spectacular hit. Honoring over 75 generous individuals and companies, donors gathered at the home of Debbe and Spike Booth, dedicated supporters of the children’s charity.

Giving thanks to supporters who donated $500 or more to the children’s gala, the benefit sponsor reception was catered by Kensington Caterers in Los Angeles. “The sponsors make this benefit a success, and it means so much to me that we have their support in providing the ‘happily ever after’ to the kids at Hillsides,” said Kristina Lomax, Hillsides’ benefit chair.

Sponsors included the Booths, Blair Carty, John and Ida Hitchcock, Jacob and Clara Maarse, including Jacob Maarse Floral Design, Susan and Bill Noce, Megan and Bill Phelps, Ben and Judy Reiling, Lyn Spector, Sherm and Marge Telleen, RUSNAK Auto Group, The Walt Disney Company, Western Asset Management Company, and many more. In addition, a sponsorship in memory of Mr. and Mrs. Jack G. Booth was given.

“We have received so much generosity and support from the community and our faithful donors. They are the ones who have made our fairy tales come true for this year's benefit, ‘Once Upon a Hillsides,’” said Lomax, a Pasadena resident. “In today's hectic world, where it is too easy to get lost in day-to-day business and life, I feel inspired and touched that so many people make Hillsides a priority for them and their families.”

Lomax began supporting the children’s charity a decade ago, and has significantly increased her involvement by volunteering her time, reading to the foster care children in the library, and becoming a member of the Hillsides Guild, a volunteer support group for the charity. “Supporting Hillsides was always fun for us,” said Lomax of her family’s involvement at Hillsides. “Working directly with the children is inspiring and heart-warming. I can't describe the feeling I get being with them.”

Speaking of her role as benefit chair, Lomax feels blessed. “It was a pleasure and an honor to be asked to lead such a charismatic and enthusiastic committee.”

Lomax’s strong leadership and direction for the annual benefit is evident by the preview of auction items, sponsorship levels, and procurement of a $5,000 gift certificate to Asanti Fine Jewellers in San Marino, which will be presented to the winner after the 52-card draw.
The gala, also emceed by NBC4 weatherman Fritz Coleman, will raise funds for the foster care charity’s programs and services.
