Houston – With summer winding down, Alden-Houston is pleased to announce a very special, one time only, “grape escape” weekend package. Taking place August 9-10, 2008, the culinary extravaganza promises to be a spectacular “hang-on-to-summer” getaway for those who appreciate fine wine and food.

“On Saturday afternoon, guests will enjoy a ‘class to glass’ tales and tasting wine experience with old vs. new world wines, hosted by *17’s sommelier Evan Turner, and award-winning Houston sommelier Kim Wallace,” said Susan Ward-Freeman, the hotel’s general manager. Later that evening, guests will gather on Alden’s spectacular veranda for a light reception, followed by a five-course ‘farm to table’ dinner created by Executive Chef Wes Morton. Each course will be accompanied with wines paired by Turner; dress is summer casual.

After a night of serious food and fun, guests can simply take the elevator “home” to luxurious accommodations and wake up to *17’s relaxing Sunday brunch with guest winemakers Rick and Diane DuNah of Dunah Winery. A special Friday night room rate is available upon request for guests who wish to extend their “grape escape” weekend.
