HONG KONG- Dec. 17, 2008 - ACT Conferencing is expanding its presence in the Asia Pacific region to include the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Plus Two. ACT, a provider of on-demand audio, web and video conferencing services, is extending its well established footprint in Asia to support channel partners operating in the 10 Southeast Asian countries that make up ASEAN, plus two additional East Asian nations: China and South Korea. This development is a direct result of increasing demand for ACT's collaborative conferencing services. To support its continued growth in the Asia Pacific region, ACT recently appointed Sunny Au as the channel manager of Asia. Au joined the ACT team with 10 years of experience in the conferencing industry, including several years as a sales director at Genesys Conferencing. Prior to that, he served as a sales manager at Premiere Conferencing. "We are in an interesting position," said Au. "While the global marketplace is experiencing more ebbs than flows, ACT is consistently seeing growth around the globe. This is because at a time when travel budgets are slashed and people are expected to do more with fewer resources, on-demand conferencing solutions are a must-have."One of ACT's key partners, ReadySpace (www.readyspace.com), agrees. ReadySpace is one of the fastest growing hosting solutions providers in Singapore. David Loke, executive director of ReadySpace, Singapore said, "ACT Conferencing has provided a fantastic reseller package that enables us to further leverage our managed services portfolio. This partnership allows us to more effectively tackle the SMB [small to medium businesses] space that is a growth area for conferencing services across South East Asia. We are looking forward to generating more business opportunities with ACT's extensive support." In addition to expanding its partnerships in the Asia Pacific region, ACT is becoming more actively involved in local organizations. For example, the company is now a member of the American Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong (http://www.amcham.org.hk/), one of the largest American chambers outside the US, the largest international chamber in Hong Kong and the most dynamic and influential international business organization in the Asia-Pacific region. ACT participates in the Information Technology & Telecommunication committee which devises initiatives focused on conducting business in China and liaising with Chinese businesses and government organizations. In addition, earlier this month ACT sponsored the IR Magazine Hong Kong and Taiwan Awards. Au presented the Best Investor Meetings award winner to Delta Electronic. As part of its sponsorship, ACT is hosting the webcast for this event. For more information about ACT's webcasting services, visit: http://www.acttel.com/our-services/audio-web-services/managed-audio-service/elite/conference-cast.php. "As we expand our services and our partnerships in this region, it is important to ACT that we also serve as a catalyst for change in the global marketplace," said Trevor Lewis, director of sales and strategic alliances for the Asia Pacific region, ACT Conferencing.
LONDON-Dec. 8, 2008-Sorrento Networks today announced that Neos Networks, a leading telecom network operator in Europe, has deployed the Sorrento GigaMux wavelength-division multiplexing (WDM) products to increase the capacity of its expansive network that supports thousands of subscribers in the United Kingdom (UK). Neos selected Sorrento's platform to support the increasing optical bandwidth needs associated with high-speed data communications and video.Through its implementation of Sorrento's GigaMux 3200 platform, Neos can seamlessly add capacity to its existing WDM infrastructure without interrupting traffic signals. This gives the company the flexibility to build out its optical ring and mesh networks across the UK to respond to customers' needs on demand. Neos is currently using the GigaMux 3200 to support 1Gb Ethernet, 2.5 Gb services and 10 Gb local-area and wide-area networking capabilities for its broad customer base. "By cost-effectively increasing our network bandwidth we can make more next-generation consumer and business services available to our customers faster," said Adrian Pike, group director of Neos Networks. "Sorrento's GigaMux platform gives us the level of flexibility we need to remain competitive in this fast-growth environment." Sorrento's GigaMux 3200 WDM platform enables Neos to deliver high-speed services with significantly reduced capital outlay and fewer management requirements than other optical networking products. A protocol-independent design allows the GigaMux platform to transport and extend the traffic of SONET/SDH, layer 2/3 Ethernet and SAN simultaneously and in their native format. This unmatched level of flexibility and control allows Neos Networks to add or upgrade bandwidth incrementally based on traffic requirements. "As traffic grows and urban networks become more complex, regions like the UK where Neos operates are seeing unprecedented growth of WDM in their metropolitan networks," said Jim Nevelle, CEO of Sorrento Networks. "Our GigaMux equipment allows operators like Neos to build highly cost-efficient transport networks that allow them to extend their services to the metro core and metro access faster than their competitors." About Neos NetworksNeos Networks is part of the Scottish and Southern Energy Group, a FTSE Top 40 company employing 14,000+ staff with a turnover of 11.9 billion. Formed in 1997, Neos' objective was to provide innovative, flexible and cost-effective communications solutions to its customers and this mirrors its ongoing philosophy. Neos is one of the most financially secure service providers in the UK, not to mention profitable. Achieving substantial new business growth in 2007 while maintaining minimal customer churn. This has been achieved by investing in the network, putting customers first, delivering quality projects on time and on budget and ensuring an extremely high service level once installed. Neos is a network operator with a product set focused on the provision of L1 and L2 connectivity for other carriers, network integrators and B2B delivered over its extensive owned UK fibre network.About Sorrento Networks - Optical Networks Made SimpleSorrento Networks is a global provider of metro optical access solutions, offering an edge-to-regional CWDM, DWDM and ROADM product portfolio to carriers and enterprises.
LONDON - Nov. 12, 2008 - ACT Conferencing, a provider of on-demand audio, web and video collaborative conferencing services, today reported year-over-year growth of its operations serving Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA). The company attributes its continued success in this region to its new service offerings, reseller partners and knowledgeable staff. ACT's revenues generated by EMEA-based customers have increased by 20 percent compared to the same time last year. ACT's reservationless conferencing services have grown in revenue by more than 40 percent and its web services have increased by 63 percent. Additionally, ACT's attended audio revenue in EMEA has grown by 20 percent compared to the industry actual of 12.8 percent year-over-year growth reported in Q2 2008 by Wainhouse Research. ACT's accelerated growth in attended audio services is due in part to Global Bridge Linking (GBL), a service it has provided for the past year. Rather than calling an access number across the globe, GBL allows ACT customers to access the call through a regionally recognized local and toll-free number that terminates on a local bridge. This capability provides participants with a familiar language and local accent combined with the same audio quality that customers have come to expect from ACT. GBL can reduce conference costs by up to 33 percent and is offered in 60 countries. Another key contributing factor to ACT's success is the company's recently appointed senior director of sales, David Gladding, who has been instrumental in expanding ACT's sales force in EMEA and exceeding revenue targets each quarter. David joined ACT with 15 years of sales experience, having served in senior level positions for Printware Limited Business, AusPed Ltd. and NYNEX CableComms. ACT also appointed Maxime Gueris as its internal account manager for EMEA. Maxime brings more than 10 years of international sales and marketing experience spanning several industries."Our continued growth in this region is the result of strategic investments in technology and people that have enabled us to offer a truly unique global network offering that our competitors simply can't beat," said Gladding. "Our customers want high quality conferencing services and superior customer service. Because we can deliver, we succeed, and we anticipate our footprint in EMEA will continue to expand throughout 2009."ACT is well positioned to expand its presence next year with channel partners like Bridge Talk that are excelling in this region of the world by offering customers savings of 50 to 60 percent compared to competitive offerings as well as providing 24/7 support. Bridge Talk signed with ACT in 2008, and quickly established a presence in Israel and just last month, expanded its offering to the United Kingdom.Scott Curzon, general manager of Bridge Talk said, "Our partnership with ACT makes our global expansion plans possible. The company's services are second to none and the support they continue to provide us is best in class."In 2009, ACT plans to announce new service offerings in EMEA, expand its sales reach and forge new partnerships with resellers serving this region - all factors that will support ACT's strategic corporate plans for next year.About ACT ConferencingEstablished in 1989, ACT Conferencing is a global provider of corporate audio, web and video collaboration services.
SAN FRANCISCO - Sept. 8, 2008 - Embarcadero Technologies today announced the worldwide availability of InterBase SMP 2009, the newest version of its fast, feature-rich, SQL database for embedded and small-to-medium enterprise applications. The new InterBase SMP 2009 relational database from Embarcadero's CodeGeara4 product line provides extra levels of data security, portability, performance, and uptime to VARs, ISVs, OEMs and enterprise businesses. New security features include bolstered column- and database-level encryption, Over The Wire (OTW) encryption and support for the Advanced Encryption Standard (AES), which provides comprehensive data security. Additionally, InterBase now has built-in support for symmetric multiprocessing (SMP), making it one of the fastest native databases available. A new ToGo Edition of the database features a small footprint (less than 3MB) to give ISVs and OEMs the flexibility to ship an embedded and highly reliable SQL-compliant transactional database."For more than ten years, we have shipped applications based on InterBase to a wide variety of customers," said Craig Stuntz, Senior Developer, Vertex Systems Inc. "Its minimal configuration and maintenance requirements, combined with real-world experience, give us confidence that it will continue to perform well without the need for care and feeding by a dedicated IT staff. Larger customers, on the other hand, appreciate the SMP support, incremental backup, and journaling features. Performance monitoring allows us to diagnose issues in the field. And its affordable price helps us to remain competitive in our market."InterBase is an industrial-strength RDBMS that uniquely delivers high performance and rich features in a lightweight footprint designed to operate with minimal to zero administration. It has been shipping for more than two decades and today powers millions of applications globally. InterBase is most frequently used by developers for building packaged software that need silent installs for embedded and bundled database redistribution, and by small-to-medium-sized enterprises that need a powerful solution with minimal RDBMS support requirements."With InterBase SMP 2009, we are introducing high-end RDBMS features such as SMP scalability, high availability, AES encryption and OTW security for both embedded and server applications at a highly affordable price point," said Michael Swindell, Embarcadero Technologies' Vice President of Products. "In addition, InterBase can now also be paired with PowerSQLa4, our powerful new SQL IDE designed to speed SQL development while reducing errors, as well as with ER/Studio, which provides a complete data modeling environment for analyzing, designing, creating, and maintaining database architecture." Additional product features and benefits include:a4High performance and scalability: InterBase SMP 2009 now incorporates native support for SMP at no additional cost. With this addition, developers can take advantage of today's multi-core architectures and scale applications transparently across multiple CPUs. a4Near- zero maintenance: By combining simple installation and automatic crash recovery, along with a self-tuning, self-maintaining engine, InterBase SMP 2009 is very well suited for the embedded market. a4High availability: InterBase SMP 2009 offers increased availability through log-based journaling for short-term recovery, and journal archiving for long-term recovery, in the event of hardware system failures. Online Dump of database files and Point-in-Time Recovery from archives help minimize downtime should a disaster occur. For a full list of features, please visit http://www.codegear.com/products/interbaseAvailability and PricingInterBase SMP 2009 Developer, Desktop and Server Editions are available today worldwide through Embarcadero or one of its global partners.
SAN FRANCISCO - Aug. 26, 2008-Embarcadero Technologies is delivering another superior solution to detect, diagnose and correct database performance degradation issues with Performance Center version 2.5. The upgraded monitoring tool incorporates features that help database administrators (DBAs) resolve performance issues and improve end-user service satisfaction levels. With Performance Center 2.5, Embarcadero focused on features that help mitigate the strain DBAs are facing amid the radical growth in data and the increased number of systems under their management. This latest release enables DBAs to review both current and historical performance information for all monitored databases and, by understanding the historical performance spike patterns, they can preclude future performance problems. Details on database activities that could be hampering performance, such as memory, I/O, contention, space, network, objects, users, and SQL code, can be tracked from a single Web-based console that also provides point-in-time health summaries and customizable reports. "DBAs are already overworked and stretched in a million directions, so the last hassle they want to face is a manual performance management tool or one that can't unite multiple database platforms into one simple view," said Scott Walz, Senior Director of Product Management for Embarcadero. "By providing administrators with enterprise-wide alerts and database health information through a simple UI, Performance Center makes performance monitoring less tedious and time consuming." The robust new graphical productivity features in Performance Center 2.5 enable DBAs to easily monitor multiple databases platforms from a single view. New graphing zoom features and an enhanced Enterprise View with enterprise-wide alert and health status information help mitigate large-scale database monitoring. Also, the addition of configurable alert thresholds, notifications and escalation paths allow users to stay a step ahead of database issues and capture a wide array of performance metrics."Managing the performance of our databases is a top priority that requires equal parts of art and science and, ideally, the least amount of time and labor possible," said Chris Hanson, Principal of Wire Science, a software development company. "Performance Center has become a staple in our company because it gives us fingertip access to all of our database performance details and, with customizable alerts and notifications set to our specific preferences, we can resolve any problems before they result in disgruntled end-users."Like all other Embarcadero DatabaseGeara4 tools, Performance Center offers cross-platform support for IBM DB2 for Linux, Unix and Windows, Microsoft SQL Servera4, Oracle and Sybase Adaptive Server Enterprise (ASE). Highly detailed and specialized reports can be generated for a variety of audiences, including CIOs, IT managers and business unit managers, who routinely assess operational costs and service-level agreements. "Performance Center is a key component of our strategy in delivering products that detect, diagnose and ultimately correct database performance issues," said Greg Keller, Embarcadero's Chief Evangelist for DatabaseGear products. "With this release and our other performance optimization tools offered in the DatabaseGear and CodeGear product portfolios, application developers and database professionals alike can quickly implement end-to-end application performance from clients, into servers, and all the way through to the database."Other key Performance Center 2.5 features and benefits include:a4An agent-less architecture lets DBAs install and configure the tool without involving system administrators, cutting installation costs and timea4An at-a-glance view into overall database health gives guidance to help desk managers a4Server-side caching of monitored metrics results in the immediate population of graphs and grids without the need for client-side caching or initializationa4Increased server capacity offers greater flexibility a4New reporting engine enables quicker set-up, configuration and more custom reporting optionsAvailability and PricingPerformance Center 2.5 is now generally available worldwide. North American introductory pricing begins at $2650 per user.
SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Aug. 14, 2008 - SolarFrameWorks, a manufacturer and distributor of photovoltaic technology, today introduced a pioneering solar panel cleaning agent, PowerBoost. PowerBoost is a touchless, biodegradable solution that repels debris from solar panels to maximize solar power production and lower utility costs. According to customer results, PowerBoost provides an immediate and dramatic increase in power output."Solar panel cleaning is extremely important to achieve maximum output of a solar electric system," said Dr. Patrina Eiffert, CEO, SolarFrameWorks. "The financial impact of a clean solar panel is immediate. More electricity produced by the solar panels means less dollars billed by the utility company and a direct savings to the owner. During this time of year, when solar systems generate the most power due to air conditioning usage, cleaning maintenance is especially important."Available for both residential and commercial applications, PowerBoost can be applied within minutes using a standard garden hose. The intense foaming solution contains high-quality surfactants that remove grime thereby increasing the level of solar insulation that is able to reach the solar cells. PowerBoost works on all types of glass, such as the tempered glass layered on the top of most crystalline solar panels. PowerBoost not only enhances the cleaning process but leaves behind a specially-formulated coating to reduce the number of cleanings required."Last year, I installed solar panels to fuel my electricity," said Richard Loesch, a Carmichael, California resident. "In light of the wild fires raging throughout the state, I grew concerned about how I would be able to properly maintain my solar panels with all the ash and soot left behind. After using PowerBoost, my concern is gone. It's very easy to apply and works instantly. In even the harshest environmental conditions, I am confident in the effectiveness of PowerBoost and highly recommend this product."Pricing and AvailabilityPowerBoost is available in both industrial and residential strength formulations. For more information, visit http://www.solarframeworks.com/powerboost.html or call 1-888-90-SOLAR.About SolarFrameWorksSolarFrameWorks, based in Golden, Colorado, is a leading edge designer and manufacturer of mounting and framing solutions for photovoltaic panels.
SANTA CLARA, Calif. - EclipseCon 2008 (Booth #405) - March 17, 2008 - Following on its recent series of announcements of key hires from the Eclipse community, Embarcadero is debuting its new professional-grade SQL development tool, PowerSQL, today at EclipseCon 2008. PowerSQL dramatically improves productivity for Eclipse application developers charged with SQL development."With the growing sophistication of J2EE, Ruby on Rails and other development frameworks increasingly dependent on databases, application developers require more depth in knowledge and tooling for the underlying DBMS technologies," said Greg Keller, vice president of product management, Embarcadero Technologies. "PowerSQL brings developers what they expect in an IDE with tremendous depth equaling hundreds of man-years worth of experience in database SQL parsing, connection, debugging and general optimization to produce high-performance SQL."Embarcadero PowerSQL, the company's fourth tool built on the Eclipse framework, is a SQL IDE (Integrated Development Environment) that can be installed as a standalone application (Eclipse RCP) or as an Eclipse plug-in. It offers native support for Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, Sybase and DB2 for LUW, as well as JBDC support for other prominent DBMSs such as MySQL. PowerSQL runs on both Windows and Linux operating systems. Its flexibility and compatibility, in addition to a low price-point, make it a must-have tool for application developers who are increasingly working with databases. "We are seeing an upsurge in the number of traditional developers who are taking on more database work and using SQL on a somewhat regular basis," said John F. Andrews, president and CEO of Evans Data Corporation. "In fact, according to research we conducted in September 2007, SQL is the second most popular language among Eclipse users, with 64 percent using it at least some of the time."Features of the new Embarcadero PowerSQL tool include:a4SQL Code Assist ensures 100% object name accuracy, even when not connected to a database, plus real-time SQL syntax validationa4SQL Project Insight provides project-level SQL file cataloging and search features to help streamline project organization and maintenance a4Migration Wizard imports data sources from Eclipse DTP (Data Tools Project) or Quest TOAD a4Data Source Explorer enables users to easily navigate, search, extract DDL, execute commands, and even browse an outline view without opening the SQL filea4Formatting Profiles ensure consistent, quality code layout for easy review and extension. Profiles can be customized and shared. "Embarcadero continues to deliver on its commitment to Eclipse," said Mike Milinkovich, executive director, Eclipse Foundation. "By bringing new Eclipse-based tools to market like PowerSQL, more developers are able to experience the many benefits offered by Eclipse.
