For Immediate ReleaseMedia Contact:Rodger Roeser, APREisen Management Grouprroeser@eisenmanagementgroup.com859.291.4302Cincinnati, OH - October 23, 2008 - Never have workplace issues been so important and crystallized as they are right now, with employees and employers alike facing challenges of layoffs, productivity, morale, shrinking budgets, growing stress and even office romance. Lack of employee engagement is at an all-time high, and loyalty to an employer is at an all time low. But, information on how to handle such critical situations isn't routinely available from employers. As a result, workers are often left to sink, swim, or get another job. Online resources have offered various aspects of workplace issues, with a focus on career tools. However, there has been no central hub where employees could turn for honest workplace answers and expert advice until human resources guru Barbara Poole created Employaid, which launched in March 2008. Employaid is an online community where individual employees can find the informed resources they need for career success, such as "Dealing with Hostile Co-Workers," "Surviving a Merger or Acquisition," "Dealing With Substance Abuse at the Office," "Dealing with Passive-Aggressive Behavior," and tons of 100 percent original pieces of content offering pragmatic how to's and straight talk. With convenient and practical tools such as podcasts, videos, forums, blogs, articles and white papers, employees and employers alike can take the right steps with an expert guide beside them. Site members can also access the Employaid Exchange, where they are able to ask a work/life question and receive an answer from an Employaid Expert within 24 hours. And now, Poole says it's time to spread the gospel of having a more rewarding work experience, taking control of the personal career "brand," and taking the right steps in career success. To that end, the Connecticut based business turned to Greater Cincinnati public relations firm Eisen Management Group, who will be directing the national publicity, social media development and management, and awareness campaign for Poole and the Employaid website. "There are so many issues and challenges in the workplace that through some education and actionable information, Employaid can make a tremendously positive impact on the professional lives of so many," EMG president Rodger Roeser says. "To have been selected by this caliber of national expert and to have the opportunity to share her vision and this passion in creating a more positive work environment with the world is humbling." Poole said of EMG, "The team had a passion and exuberance for what it is I am trying to do. They gave me straight talk, no fluff, real deal honesty, and in the PR industry, I find that quite refreshing. No bloated promises or hyperbole, just a group of hard working professionals that gave me sound advice and who I trust to assist me in what I am looking to achieve." About EmployaidEmployaid is an online community for corporate employees to find the resources they need for success, whether they are starting out, are ready to check out of a corporate career, or somewhere in between. Here members will find tools, strategies and skills to navigate the rough waters of their workplaces. Or, simply to get ahead in their life, work, and career. Because everyone is an individual, Employaid was designed with the individual in mind. Members can find the aid they are looking for across a wide variety of media - so they get what they want, how they want it, when they need it. Employaid is a unique and growing community of Members who are changing the face of today's workplace. Employaid can be accessed at www.Employaid.com.

1 Vote(s)

Today, the agency announces the creation of their EMG Scholarship Fund designed to assist minority students entering college who are pursuing a degree in public relations, communications or journalism.
He is an army soldier turned art student, eventually becoming one of Greater Cincinnati's most successful restaurateurs combining his discipline and resolve with an exceptionally creative mind. And, chances are, you probably don't even know his name. He has a passion for tequila, uses the moniker of patron in his email, and is embarking on a major growth initiative with his Cincinnati based restaurant chain. Surely, you know Margaritas Restaurants - the brainchild of one Tony Vanjohnson.Vanjohnson hit the Cincinnati pavement in 1986 with 40 bucks in his pocket and some big dreams in his eyes. Now, more than 20 years and six successful restaurants later, Tony is dedicated to creating the best Mexican dining experience for Cincinnatians - and beyond, working with business partner Brian Clark and recently hiring former Gold Star CEO John Sullivan to assist him in this aggressive growth initiative. But becoming a successful restaurateur in Cincinnati isn't exactly the route young Vanjohnson expected to take. Tony grew up in Los Angeles and began his career with the United States Army immediately after high school. His service to his country eventually led him to Cincinnati in 1986, where he finished the last years of service in the Army Reserves. It was at this moment, that Tony got his first taste of the Buckeye State, but the Southern California native took to Ohio like a lime to tequila. After arriving in the Buckeye State, Tony decided to pursue one of the loves in his life - photography. He studied photography at the nearby Ohio Institute of Photography in Kettering. While working his way through photography school, he was bitten by the restaurant bug and began his glamorous career as a pizza delivery driver for Snappy Tomato. But the young would be entrepreneur watched, learned and plotted his future. "I would sit back and think, hey, I could do that," he said. And, he did. Tony hadn't even celebrated his 21st birthday yet when he plunged into the pepperoni and became the proud owner of a Snappy Tomato franchise in Cincinnati. He incorporated the respect and determination he had learned while in the service to his business practices. Tony valued the strong leadership he was exposed to while at Snappy Tomato and used that knowledge to help build his own creative, classy, and clever management style - and it paid off. Within a few years, Tony's restaurant was one of the most popular Snappy Tomato locations in Cincinnati. But, while Tony was experiencing great success within the pizza business, he longed for something more that brought him back to his Southern California roots - the great Mexican food. While in California, Tony experienced some of the nation's best authentic Mexican cuisine. But, after his arrival in Cincinnati, he said he felt couldn't find the right place to quench his desire for a great Mexican meal. At this point, he decided he was going to make it his goal to create a place where friends and family could gather and enjoy hearty, authentic Mexican recipes, and of course, a great margarita. It was at this point, the seed was planted for what would become a Greater Cincinnati staple - Margaritas Restaurants, which opened it's first restaurant in 1998. In its very first year, Margaritas was voted Best Margaritas by Cincinnati Magazine and later, the Cincinnati Enquirer. His wife, and middle school sweetheart, Tiffany, supported him in his quest for the great Cincinnati Mexican restaurant, and brought with her a tremendous amount marketing experience which combined with Tony's undying passion for the culture. Tony had been traveling to the heart of Mexico for several years, soaking up the sights, the sounds and great personalities that Mexico had to offer. He used it as his inspiration, and in creating a spirited, creative atmosphere that exudes spunk and passion and energy. Tony recalls one particular trip that ended in a 12-hour train ride and a perfect open air view of the Mexican coast. He had heard about an exquisite restaurant that was located on the Gulf coast, and decided to take the train to the restaurant, because he had heard so much about the beauty of the train's route through the Sierra Madre mountains. The train pushed along (at about 10 mph) through the hills, and twelve hours later, Tony had reached his destination."I really never thought that train would never stop," he explained. "But in the end, it was one of the most rewarding trips I have ever taken." Like Sir Gallahad and the Holy Grail, the trip not only exposed Tony's taste buds to some interesting and tasty Mexican dishes, but also opened his eyes to the idea of a dining experience that incorporated outdoor seating and local Mexican decorations. The open air concept of that particular restaurant helped shape some of the architectural design of the Margarita's restaurants. When patrons walk into each Margarita's restaurant, you can just feel the authenticity, and the fun. From the traditional stucco walls, to the authentic memorabilia and music, you feel as though you are transported to the streets of Mexico. But what is a Mexican restaurant named Margaritas without great margaritas and an exquisite collection of tequila? Tony created the Tequila Club in 1999 to showcase the 35 brands of tequila offered by the Mexican chain. Many brands are available in Ohio because of Tony's close relationships with distributors from Mexico. Tony's favorite margarita? The Latino Affair - a combination of Patron tequila, Cointreau, Grand Marnier and a splash of sour mix and orange juice, what's not to love?"We have created a strong restaurant and brand in a city that I genuinely love, and that, well that is true happiness for me," he says with a smile. Indeed, what's not to love.

1 Vote(s)

NEWS RELEASE: Energy/Business: Energy Rebate for "Green" Businesses Cuts Costs Alexandria, KY - September 18, 2008 - Northern Kentucky Electric Service (NKES) is urging businesses that are considering going "green", to do so in a hurry. The Energy Policy Act (EPAct) rebate, which was created by the government in 2005 to help subsidize energy efficient upgrades, is scheduled to end Dec. 31, 2008. The EPAct includes a tax deduction of up to $1.80 per square foot for "green" construction and renovations. The act also recognizes those who are already LEED certified by offering the same incentive to them."Rising energy costs are a chief concern among facility managers who often oversee budgetary issues in addition to overall operations. The EPAct was designed to help substantially subsidize the costs of otherwise expensive changes," NKES President Mike Wissman said. "We highly encourage area facilities to proactively invest in energy efficient upgrades while there's still a high return on investment."NKES President Mike Wissman has researched the rebates and NKES recently commissioned an energy management survey among greater Cincinnati facility managers during June and July 2008. According to the survey, 95 percent of respondents said that reducing costs would be the greatest motivation for their company to become more energy efficient. Also, 55 percent of respondents said they foresee their companies taking steps to become more energy efficient within the next six months. "These tax credits can really end up saving the company a lot of money and essentially helping the environment in the process," Wissman said. "More and more businesses are seeing this as a major issue and realize the time to act is now."NKES offers a program, a4NKEco', designed to assist businesses become more energy efficient and to maximize money-back incentive opportunities.
Cincinnati, OH- September 17, 2008 - Just over a year after its release, the AcuPOLL Germinator process has proven it can change the way companies develop new product ideas and which of those are ultimately put before consumers. The innovative methodology enables brand executives to quickly and inexpensively uncover whether consumers believe the benefit you are offering is important and if it is based on a sound consumer Insight; and, AcuPOLL has developed a white paper that details the methodology further, showcasing benefits to brand executives who are often under increased pressure to fast track the best ideas and get them to market. The free white paper is available for download at www.acupoll.com/acupollwp . A quick video featuring AcuPOLL CEO Jack Gordon is also available for viewing that further details the benefits of the groundbreaking brand development process. In essence, Germinator is a fast, predictive and cost-efficient process where marketers can afford to have numerous ideas compared to a dynamic "Sprout" database. Gordon explains that brand executives are constantly looking for the next big idea, but the reality is that many of the more unique ideas never get to the more expensive testing phase. According to Gordon, ideas that are least comfortable are often the first to be eliminated, but can represent the breakthrough thinking to result in truly new and different product introductions."Many of the more new, edgy or different ideas are left at the drawing board and never make the cut to testing, and ironically, those are often some of the truly inspired and best ideas," Gordon says. "Germinator now makes it possible to test these ideas based on insights and discover which ideas are best to focus on for further development. The key is understanding the power of the consumer Insight, as without a key Insight there is really nowhere to go with ideas. "Germinator reports can be turned around in less than 48 hours after data collection. ###About AcuPOLLWith world headquarters in Cincinnati, Ohio, AcuPOLL Research, Inc., is a global brand building research agency that uses a patented system to provide companies with clear business recommendations based on a thorough analysis of customized data. The a4A Word' campaign is designed to educate the public regarding the breadth of Planned Parenthood services, the positive impact the group makes on the community, and, most importantly find common ground and encourage open discussions about sexual and reproductive health. The multi-faceted advertising series confronts head on the expected a4A word,' and instead shares the reality of the vast majority of Planned Parenthood services and programming, focusing on Abstinence, Access, Affordability and Advocacy. In each ad, Planned Parenthood's Southwest Ohio Region CEO, Becki Brenner encourages community members to change their perspectives and take a moment to think and learn more about the realities of services provided - including cancer screenings, reducing teen pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections (STIs), and proper prenatal care. "We want to educate our community about the realities of our people and the services we offer. It's critical to the health of our community that everyone realize who we are," Brenner explained. "We are advocates for proper sexual education which we agree begins at home. We offer assistance to those who may not have access to health services millions take for granted, like simple Ob/Gyn services. We want to reduce teen pregnancy, STIs and abortion rates. We agree on much more than folks may think, but unfortunately, we have been defined and maligned by our detractors - thus the campaign"In addition to the newspaper ads, the organization has launched a new, interactive Web site www.theawordohio.com. The site includes fact sheets, streaming video, articles for teens and tip sheets for parents. Outdoor and indoor billboards, broadcast, social media, public relations and public affairs are all part of the integrated mix. The campaign was designed and strategy developed by Greater Cincinnati firm Eisen Management Group."There was and has been entirely too much talk, and sadly little listening on both sides of this discussion," EMG president Rodger Roeser said. "The rhetoric only serves to further polarize, when in reality there is significant common ground, and Planned Parenthood has been characterized in a largely false and negative light for far too long. The campaign is designed to share that there is common ground, but most importantly, that Planned Parenthood is a valued member of this community and is willing to listen and confront these tough, important issues head on."Brenner added that she understands why some may disagree with two percent of the services provided by Planned Parenthood. But, she says, the services we provide are invaluable to the community regardless of rhetoric, and without which would cause significant hardship to those that rely upon the organization and further strain taxpayers and hospitals. Brenner even gives out her personal email address in the advertisements, to encourage and foster two way communications - praising or criticizing the group. About Planned Parenthood Southwest Ohio RegionPlanned Parenthood is the nation's leading sexual and reproductive health care advocate and provider. The organization believes that everyone has the right to choose when or whether to have a child, and that every child should be wanted and loved. Planned Parenthood Southwest Ohio Region is one of 107 affiliates operating more than 860 health centers nationwide, providing medical services and sexuality education for millions of women, men and teenagers each year.
Alexandria, KY - August 19, 2008 - Tight budgets and rising energy costs are driving a significant majority of Cincinnati area manufacturing and industrial facilities to take immediate steps towards improving energy efficiency, according to the energy management survey commissioned and released today by Northern Kentucky Electric Service, Inc. The Greater Cincinnati electrical contractor finds that in anticipation of considerable rate hikes, facility managers are proactively preparing to take steps to become more energy efficient within the next six months or less. "Facility managers are beginning to see the writing on the wall when it comes to rising energy prices," NKES president Mike Wissman said. "It's not going to get better anytime soon, and improving efficiency is the best way to keep up with production demands without blowing the budget."Wissman says that a prime motivator for plant managers to take a more serious look at their energy expenditures is rebate programs offered by area utility companies. He says that "more and more people are starting to become aware of the fact that utility companies are issuing penalties for excessive energy consumption, and by offering discounted upgrades, they are actively trying to help facilities avoid these costly penalties." Wissman advises facility managers who are looking to invest in energy efficient upgrades to find a contractor that offers a shared savings program in order to help them take full advantage of utility company rebates. Comprehensive results from the survey can be found at www.nkyelectric.com.The energy management survey was completed by Greater Cincinnati industrial and manufacturing facility managers during June and July 2008.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASENorthern Kentucky Electric Service Shares Top Five Energy Saving Tips for BusinessesGreater Cincinnati B2B Electrical Contractor Aims to Help Companies Improve Efficiency and Reduce Energy SpendCalifornia, KY - July 17, 2008 - Amidst skyrocketing fuel prices and a weakening economy, more and more business owners and facility managers find themselves reducing budgets any way they can. Topping the long list of concerns, energy reduction has been a red hot priority for manufacturing, industrial and retail businesses alike. Northern Kentucky Electric Service president Mike Wissman has today released a top five list of ways companies can reduce their energy consumption.Wissman regards the top five things that business can do in order to significantly reduce bills and penalty charges to be:1.Use night setback thermometers2.Correct power factor problems3.Install modern, high efficiency heating and cooling equipment4.Replace metal halide fixtures with energy efficient fluorescent lighting5.Turn off lights and computers at night"Improving energy efficiency can sometimes be as simple as making a few small behavioral changes," NKES president Mike Wissman said. "Many people don't realize that utility companies penalize businesses for excessive energy waste. It can be on the utility bill month after month in black and white and still go completely unnoticed."Wissman added that it's also in the best interest of utility companies to help their clients become more energy efficient, as it is more cost effective on their end to reduce consumption rather than build new power stations. To further help companies improve efficiency, NKES has expanded its service offerings to include a4NKEco'- a program dedicated to helping manufacturing and industrial facilities reduce their energy and electricity load. As part of the program, custom facility energy audits are performed.
What Should You Do With Your Old 401(k)?A Rollover IRA Has Its AdvantagesBy: Linda Horn, CEO of Capital ConceptsIf you have changed jobs several times during the course of your career, you probably have an interesting collection of retirement savings accounts from your previous employers. In fact, according to the Department of Labor, Americans move to a new employer once every four years and our collective trail of old 401(k) and 403(b) plans totals in the trillions of dollars. While leaving your retirement account with a former employer is a better decision than cashing out your account and splurging on a boat, it may be more beneficial to consolidate your retirement savings by rolling your old 401(k) or similar employer-sponsored retirement plan into an IRA. A Rollover IRA offers you four major benefits: a4Increased Investment Options. The biggest advantage of rolling over your 401(k) into an IRA is the wider universe of investment choices, a benefit that's more valuable to you if the choices in your old 401(k) plan are limited or performing poorly. Most employer-sponsored retirement savings plans offer a choice of several mutual funds and/or company stock. However, with an IRA you can invest in mutual funds, stocks, bonds, and even non-traditional retirement investing options, such as real estate and venture capital. Also, if you keep your rollover IRA separate from other IRAs you may own, and if you qualify to open a Roth IRA, you can decide to convert the traditional rollover IRA to a Roth IRA where future earnings on the account are income tax free. Note that whether you qualify for the Roth IRA conversion depends upon your annual modified adjusted gross income. In addition, current taxes will be due on the conversion amount.a4Easier Record Keeping and Account Maintenance. There's no question receiving 401(k) statements from various employers makes it difficult to monitor what you own and ensure each investment is playing the role you intended in your portfolio. By consolidating your retirement accounts into a Rollover IRA, you facilitate the process of reviewing and rebalancing your portfolio. And, of course, you gain this greater convenience and control without tax consequences or other penalties. a4Greater access. If, for example, your previous employer changes 401(k) providers, your plan assets will be temporarily unavailable to you due to a "blackout" period that occurs as funds are transferred from one plan provider to the other. That time frame can stretch from a few days to a few months. In addition, you can tap your IRA penalty-free before age 59 for the purchase of a first home or college expenses. Current taxes will still be due at the time of withdrawal.a4Flexible Estate Planning. IRAs also offer more freedom, as well as the potential for tax savings, in the estate planning department. If you want to name multiple beneficiaries or a charitable organization as your beneficiary it is best done with an IRA. Many employer-sponsored plans do not accommodate sophisticated beneficiary designations. An IRA also affords your heirs more flexibility. For example, if you have named a non-spouse as the beneficiary of your 401(k) plan, it is likely that your former company's plan administrator will insist that the account be cashed out immediately resulting in a potentially larger tax bill and loss of the benefits of ongoing tax deferral. With an IRA, you can designate a younger non-spouse as your beneficiary and that individual can stretch out the minimum withdrawals over his or her lifetime. Also, when your assets are invested in an IRA, your beneficiaries can get the information they need easily rather than tracking down your former employers and completing multiple forms.Ironically, while a Rollover IRA certainly increases your flexibility in terms of investment options and planning for the future, the rules governing the rollover are anything but flexible. And if you don't play by the rules, you could face an unexpected tax bill. Generally, when you take a distribution from a 401(k) plan that you intend to rollover, you must contribute it back into another IRA or other tax-deferred retirement plan within 60 days. If you do not rollover the funds within 60 days the distribution is taxable. Also, in most cases, a 10% penalty for early withdrawal applies if you are younger than 59 years of age. To keep it simple and avoid careless mistakes, a direct rollover, also referred to as a trustee-to-trustee rollover, is often a better choice than cashing out and receiving a check from your former employer. With a direct rollover, your current plan sends a check not to you, but to the firm that serves as the custodian for your new IRA.Plan sponsors are required to withhold 20% of the proceeds from your 401(k) as prepayment of federal income taxes if you
