Arval, Europe's leading fleet and fuel management company, is launching a new and innovative service in the UK, aimed primarily at high fuel volume fleets of vans and HGV's, which will allow businesses to put a cap on the average price of diesel they buy, helping them to set and stay within their fuel budgets.Fuel now represents the second highest expense in owning a vehicle at over 25% of total cost. Between April and May this year diesel prices showed the highest month-on-month increase this decade. As a market leader, Arval are the only fuel card provider to offer a Capped Price Diesel service. This will allow customers to cap the maximum average price of diesel purchases over an agreed period of at least twelve weeks with a minimum volume commitment of diesel over the period. For an up front fee, customers not only get the advantage of capping the maximum price, but also enjoy the benefit of lower prices if diesel remains under the capped ceiling. This will allow fleet operators and finance directors to budget their fuel costs with a level of certainty. The service launches in October, enabling customers to opt in at specified times throughout the year. They will benefit from greater stability, can set their fuel budgets with more price certainty and may gain a competitive advantage in their industry or market. They can also use it as a back up plan, signing up to the scheme without any cost commitment, so if prices start to become unpredictable they can opt in and cap their diesel expenditure.Arval operate the service through a leading commercial vehicle diesel network of over 1,350 sites. Diesel purchased through this network is often cheaper than the national average pump price because prices are calculated based on the current commercial diesel market (Platts) and then fixed for the week. With over 35 year's experience, Arval is the leading provider of fuel cards in the UK. This expertise makes them ideally placed to offer a commercial vehicle solution to help customers to budget fuel costs effectively, in particular for large van and HGV fleets.Danny Clenaghan, Card Development Director at Arval comments:"Because of our understanding of the fuel market we have been able to develop an innovative new solution to managing fuel costs. We appreciate the pressure that volatile fuel prices put on fleets and have designed this product which will deliver certainty while still providing flexibility."He adds:"The current economic environment means that fleets require not just great service and value for money, but also more stability to help manage their business through difficult times. Arval can deliver all of these things."About ArvalPart of BNP Paribas, Arval (http://online.arval.co.uk/) is the leading fleet and fuel management company in the UK with over 30 years of experience in the industry. We manage over 145,000 vehicles and have over 1.2 million drivers using our fuel cards.
With the potential to cut accident rates by 40%, Arval is making crash prevention system Electronic Stability Control (ESC) standard on all vehicles within its company car choice list and believes that all fleets should follow suit. ESC works by stabilising the vehicle in critical situations, preventing skidding by monitoring the position of the steering wheel and comparing it with the direction that the car is heading. Sensors around the car can detect if a vehicle is straying from the intended line of travel and help to bring it back on track by braking individual wheels. With campaigners claiming that 4,000 road traffic deaths and 3,000 serious injuries could be saved in the UK if all new vehicles were equipped with ESC, pressure is mounting on legislators to make the life-saving technology mandatory on all new vehicles. The technology has been around for a while but there are still many drivers who don't have ESC on their vehicles, or worse still, do but don't know what it does so disable it. Tracey Young, Fleet Manager at Arval comments, "Around 40% of fatal road accidents are a result of skidding and studies show that ESC could dramatically reduce this. Obviously there is no substitute for careful driving, but this is a really valuable safety feature that will help reduce the risk of death or serious injury for our drivers." She adds, "The benefits are broad as ESC does not just make drivers safer, it also helps fleets to meet their ongoing duty of care responsibilities and reduce their accident costs. With this in mind we believe that fleets should be making the technology a standard requirement when selecting vehicles." This commitment to ESC falls within a wide-ranging and ongoing programme that Arval delivers to ensure the safety of its drivers. This combines a clear policy on vehicle choice and specification with driver training and education, comprehensive information and regular vehicle checks. David Fulker, Head of UK & Ireland Marketing at Bosch Automotive believes that every company car should be fitted with the technology: "If more fleets ensured that car choice is restricted to vehicles with ESC, we would see an immediate improvement to the safety of company car drivers and other road users and our roads would be less dangerous. Arval ought to be congratulated for taking this step."About ArvalPart of BNP Paribas, Arval (http://online.arval.co.uk/) is the leading fleet and fuel management company in the UK with over 30 years of experience in the industry.
Discovery Initiatives is once again sponsoring the annual Galapagos Day held on the Wednesday 24 September at 6.00pm Royal Geographic Society. An evening with Ben Fogle, TV presenter and Graham Watkins, Executive Director of the Charles Darwin Foundation, talking about the beauty and diversity of this captivating group of islands, but also the long term conversation challenges faced by this double World Heritage Site. All money raised from the evening is in aid of the Galapagos Conservation Trust. The amazing diversity of life on the Galapagos Islands is largely due to a phenomenon known as the Humboldt Current. Ocean currents are caused and affected by many different factors, including the gravitational pull of the moon, the earth's rotation, underwater geography, salinity, wind and water temperature. These currents are very important to life on land, as they can affect climate, shipping, fishing and life such as birds or other species that live off of marine animals and fish.Visitors are invited to meet the team to discuss their own travel adventures and help support the Galapagos. At a time when all political parties and every government department has emphasised the vital role of the third sector, it will be tremendous to have the opportunity to influence policy making and to help create the conditions in which voluntary organisations, social enterprises and charities can continue to flourish." The TSAB was set up following the widest ever consultation with the third sector and aims to provide ministers with clear and authoritative advice on policy regarding the third sector, including charities, voluntary groups and social enterprise. Phil Hope, Minister for the Third Sector, said: "The advisory body has a hugely important role in helping the Government make the right choices for a thriving third sector."Baroness Jill Pitkeathley OBE who was appointed as the chair of TSAB on 9 April, said: "I'm delighted with these appointments.
Over 30 WRVS volunteers from the WRVS tea bar in the outpatients and maternity department tea bar at Caerphilly Miners Hospital attended a special presentation event on 1 July to be thanked for all their hard work and to take the opportunity to gift back 22,000 back to the hospital.Peter Sampson, vice-chairman of Gwent Healthcare NHS Trust accepted the gift which was made possible from the contribution made by the WRVS volunteers over the last two years from profits made at tea bar.The money has been divided among various departments including Physiotherapy, Accident and emergency department, Outpatients, Physiotherapy, Antenatal, Cardiology, and the Nantgarw ward to enable them to purchase vital equipment to benefit all the people who use the hospital.Mr Sampson said: "I am so pleased to be present here today as I am always in awe of all the volunteers who give up their time to help the local people at this local hospital. I am also extremely pleased to be able to acknowledge the fantastic contribution you have all made in raising the sum of 22, 772.19 over the past two years." Many staff and sisters from the various departments who benefited from the new equipment came along to offer their thanks and explain how the equipment had helped to make such a difference to patients and staffAfter a celebratory lunch, a special thanks was extended to Dorothy Lewis who was retiring after 21 years of being a WRVS volunteer project manager. She received a thank you letter for her hard work and commitment to volunteering over many years from WRVS vice-chairman, Val Everitt and some flowers. But Dorothy doesn't plan on hanging up her tabard for long - she is continuing to do a shift a week at the tea bar and will help to train the new volunteer project manager in the near future.About WRVSWRVS (http://www.wrvs.org.uk) is one of the UK's largest charities and voluntary organisations.
BBC Radio Wales joined WRVS's 70th birthday celebrations today, 11 July, when WRVS chief executive, Lynne Berry, and long-standing volunteer, Mary Howard Jones, joined breakfast show presenter Bethan Rhys Roberts to talk about WRVS' 70 years of volunteering, and why volunteering with us is just as important and vibrant today as it was in 1938.WRVS volunteer, Mary Howard Jones, joined WRVS in the early 1950s as an ambulance driver and now works in a Darby and Joan club and is an emergency services volunteer: "I'm still enjoying every moment. It's a great privilege and people should really think about it."Lynne Berry explained that WRVS was looking for new volunteers from any age or background. She described how volunteers get a huge amount of out the work they do, whatever they are looking for out of volunteering: "One young woman, has been involved in her local hospital in Ysbyty Gwynedd and set up a committee called the a4can do' group. She and other young people are involved in a whole range of things from mobile phone recycling for raising funds to carrying out information and advice. Young people were getting involved in a whole range of things. "Many of them find that this a fantastic way of developing skills, building up their experience, their confidence so that when they come to apply for university or when they're at university they can really build up their CV," she said. "It helps them enormously as a step forward into work later on.""It's just wonderful because we've long had a history of feisty young women, and men, getting involved with us and I'm really glad we're able to do so still."The whole interview can be found at bbc.co.uk until Thursday 17 July 2008 on their listen again service. Please fast-forward to two hours 18 minutes into the programme.About WRVSWRVS (http://www.wrvs.org.uk) is one of the UK's largest charities and voluntary organisations. Michael added: "I've been in fundraising now for over eight years and done everything from run the London Marathon, the a4Great Gorilla Run' and bungee jumping from Chelsea Bridge.
WRVS' Heritage Plus project in East Sussex launches its new community history website today which showcases the diverse and fascinating personal histories from people within Sussex, including audiovisual extracts. The site can be seen at www.heritageplus.org.uk. WRVS' Heritage Plus is funded by the National Lottery through the Heritage Lottery Fund. It celebrates and documents peoples individual and community histories through regular activities, events and outings. It brings together people of all ages to explore their histories and life experiences - their shared heritage. The aim of the website is to enable young and old to add their own family heritage for people worldwide to view and comment on. This is an excellent way to promote positive ageing along with archiving valuable memories that would otherwise be lost. This gives everyone the opportunity to record their stories, their lives and their loves. One of the volunteers at the project said: "It's Interesting listening to people's memories, entertaining joining in the fun of sharing experiences, rewarding to be part of a project preserving these memories and experiences for the future. That's what being a WRVS Heritage Plus volunteer means to me." The website was designed by Community Sites and produced by WRVS Heritage Plus staff and volunteers. The website launch will be celebrated at three venues; St. Richards Church and Community Centre in Hove; WRVS Russell Centre in Eastbourne and at WRVS' Isobel Blackman Centre in St. Leonards-on-Sea.
Quick Move Fall Through Index (FTI) shows a record level of aborted sales over the last 6 months; The FTI rate for May was 46%.This is a knock on effect of the problems being experienced in the property market which show no sign of abating.Anyone lucky enough to find a buyer in this tough market may think that is the end of it but the reality is that huge volumes of sales are falling through every week. The professional pre-sale checks undertaken by Quick Move reduces the fall through rate so the volume of aborted sales experienced by the normal vendor will be much greater. As always these vendors face the prospect of losing their onward purchase and remain exposed to the deteriorating market conditions. They will also lose out financially with costs sunk into solicitors, estate agents, HIP's, survey and mortgage fees, which often exceed of 2000."Until general confidence in the property market returns and the issues with the credit crisis are resolved we don't see any short term improvement in the level of aborted sales."Not all property sales that are agreed go on to complete and the percentage of sales falling through varies greatly with prevailing market conditions. When a chain collapses sellers can face a number of issues:-Large delay in selling as whole marketing/sale process is restarted.-Lose onward purchase.-Remain exposed to changing market conditions.-Lose out financially with costs sunk into solicitors, estate agents, home information packs, survey and mortgage fees often exceeding 2000.About Quick Move NowQuick Move Now (http://www.quickmovenow.com) is a house buying company that began trading in 1998 and has developed rapidly, establishing Quick Move Now as the leading house sale company in the UK. Every one has made a difference to people in their community, from the crisis of the Second World War to the work we do today to help older people stay independent and get more out of life. I want to say a big thank you to each one of our volunteers past and present, you have made WRVS what it is today."The difference WRVS volunteers make is shown by the uploading of some of their real life stories of volunteering in homes, in their communities, in hospitals and emergency situations on the WRVS website.Volunteers' Week is the UK's annual celebration of the work volunteers do.
Property sellers face a one in two chance of their sale falling through, according to research from Quickmovenow.com, a leading home purchase company. The firm's "Fall Through Index" (FTI) released today shows that fall-through rates have doubled since their records began in 2006. Quickmovenow.com blames the current market conditions, for these failings. Hywel Luke, managing director, Quickmovenow.com says, "This gives us a real indication of how market conditions are affecting home owners looking to sell their property and, as with most market indicators, the FTI outlook for the near future is poor. "Back in 2006 and early 2007 the market was extremely competitive. Buyers' would do anything to secure a property and were able to stretch mortgagees to the limit as well as get easy access to temporary bridging finance. Since August 2007 the market has hardened which has led to sales taking longer to agree and an increasing ratio of collapsed chains" explains Luke. Several reasons are behind the rising Quickmovenow.com FTI:Firstly, buyers have lost confidence in the market, so when negative stories hit the news it's not uncommon for them to get a4itchy feet' and pull out of the transaction. Secondly, many buyers are unable to secure the mortgage they were initially offered and only have access to more expensive options. Thirdly, buyers with even slightly dubious financial backgrounds are falling foul of more stringent underwriting by lenders. "However, there is an option available for those needing a quick sale, Quickmovenow.com provides clients with a fast, secure and efficient sale. As cash buyers Quickmovenow.com are not affected by issues relating to chains or from problems in the mortgage market caused by the credit crisis," concludes Luke.About Quick Move NowQuick Move Now (http://www.quickmovenow.com) is a house buying company that began trading in 1998 and has developed rapidly, establishing Quick Move Now as the leading house sale company in the UK.
Discovery Initiatives is pleased to announce a tour of rural China, giving the opportunity to track and view Giant Pandas: http://www.discoveryinitiatives.co.uk/discover/trip/China/Wild_Giant_Panda_and_Rural_Study_Tour. This tour to Sichuan and Shaanxi provinces aims to give a privileged insight into two panda reserves, which up until now have had little tourism. The itinerary allows unique viewing and trekking opportunities to track and view wild pandas in their natural habitat, as well as meeting with traditional rural communities, still practising their ancient agricultural methods, and meeting with the individuals fighting to ensure the survival of wilderness in China. The Reserves of Foping and Changqing were established in the late 1990s as two of eight contiguous reserves set up for Giant panda protection in the Qinling Mountains, south of Xian, and as such hold some of the best high altitude primary forest and flora to be seen in China. Around 220 species of birds and other endangered mammals including Clouded leopard, Takin, Goral and Tufted deer also inhabit the park.Furthermore visitors will explore traditional agricultural practices, enjoy local cuisine, visit ancient cultural sites, stay in traditional rural towns and experience a local homestead with an optional home stay. Offering a range of accommodation options from a park research station to comfortable local hotels and optional camping, this trip will give travellers an alternative view of China that few people witness in a rapidly changing country. Finally end with a day in Xian to see the Terracotta warriors and the great walled city of Xian. This is a challenging tour programme, and travellers should be reasonably fit and capable of walking and trekking in mountainous terrain to gain the greatest enjoyment. The dates for this trip are 27th November to 10th December 2008; 12th - 25th March 2009 and 2nd - 15th April 2009.
Its only two weeks to go until WRVS communications officer Jo White and direct marketing officer Sarah fly the 9,905 kilometres to Peru to trek the Inca Trail. They will then be trekking over 25 miles in five days - thats up to ten hours a day until they get to their ultimate destination Machu Piccu, 4,200 metres above sea level.Inspired by the firsthand experiences they had seen of WRVS services in the community they decided to make WRVS' 70th anniversary year a year to remember and take on a challenge of a lifetime.Their reward for this challenging high altitude walk, hike and climb will be to raise 4,200 - 1 for every metre above sea level - for WRVS.4,200 will allow WRVS to support 56 older people for a whole year by supporting them in their communities - from Meals on Wheels to community centres and community transport. "We are both getting so excited about going. We signed up for this in November last year but with a half marathon and weekly training walks under our belts - including a 20-mile walk this weekend - we now feel ready and determined to do it", said Sarah.Added Jo, "Rather than just ask for sponsorship we've wanted to get friends, colleagues and family to join in with our fundraising so have run loads of different events to get them involved. Our latest events are not only to raise those final funds but also a way of thanking our long suffering supporters! We are holding a pub quiz this Sunday at The Marsh Harrier, a pub in Cowley in Oxfordshire, and a rounders tournament, a barbecue and a party in the couple of weeks. We hope everyone has as much fun as we have fundraising over the last few months."Our fundraisers are so close to their final target and are hoping that this final push will see them through. They would like to thank everyone who has bought something from them at car boot sales, had their car washed, eaten all their cakes and biscuits or cheered them along in fun runs.
WRVS is one of the ten charities supporting this year's Carers Week, the theme of which is Carers can't afford to be ill. It aims to recognise and celebrate the contribution made by the UK's six million carers and to reach out to the many a4hidden' carers in the community to ensure they know where to find support. This year, Carers Week will take place on 9 - 15 June.WRVS recognise that many of its volunteers are carers themselves and combine their work with WRVS with caring for a relative, partner, grandchildren or neighbours and friends. The work they do does a huge amount to improve the lives of older people they care for. Supporting carers in this way ensures that together WRVS and carers can help older people get more out of life. Many celebrities have now signed up to support Carers Week. David Jason MBE said: "Having cared for a loved one I know just how difficult and draining it can be. Some carers simply don't get an opportunity to do things we all take for granted like visiting the doctor or spending time with family or friends at the weekend. Thank you for inviting me to support carers and Carers Week; I'm delighted to do so." Coronation Street actress Sally Lindsay added: "From personal experience, I know caring can demand a lot of your time and attention, which in some cases can put pressure on other areas in your life such as financial reponsibilities and relationships. These problems can prove to be exhausting and mentally gruelling and can really take its toll on your health and wellbeing. I hope that Carers Week can again help to achieve change, and make a real difference to the lives of carers in this country." About WRVSWRVS (http://www.wrvs.org.uk) volunteers and employees work together to support people in need who might otherwise feel lonely and isolated, whether at home, in hospital, or in times of crisis.
Since Liverpool was awarded the fiercely contested EU title of a4Capital of Culture' 2008 the city's visitor, cultural and heritage attractions have been hard at work planning a plethora of events, concerts and exhibitions designed to attract visitors from across the UK and from all over the world. The team at Andiamo! Language Services has been working closely with many of the top attractions, including international museums, heritage sites and visitor centres to ensure that their information is available in a multilingual format for both printed materials and website content in time for the influx of foreign visitors.Andiamo! Language Services, Director of Projects, Miranda Sambidge says "It's an exciting time for us, seeing this award go to Liverpool and working with so many of the attractions on their foreign language material. Since Andiamo! was established 20 years ago we have become niche providers of translation for the tourism industry and have built up a global network of specialist translators. It is a highly specialist sector to work within. Our translators need to have more than just excellent language skills they also have to have a keen interest in the heritage and culture of the UK and to have spent a lot of time here".Miranda adds "Over the years we have established an excellent team of professionals who understand the UK's quirky traditions and significant places - for instance that the Cavern isn't a cave and that a Yellow Submarine isn't just a submersible - well not in Liverpool anyway! Fortunately for our clients, our translators understand how to convey this information in a way that is understandable as well as attractive for our foreign visitors".The 2008 line up of events looks spectacular and includes Tall Ship racing in July, a magical show in September and the MTV awards in November.
Aware of the acute shortage of British Sign Language interpreters - Andiamo took the opportunity to find out more about the issues surrounding this problem. Project Controller, Kate Stansfield reports:"In April 2007, CACDP reported that 469 BSL-English Interpreters were registered with them in England and Wales: this means that there is roughly 1 registered interpreter for every 106 Deaf people who need them."This is a staggering statistic and one of many important observations made in the recent report on the current provision of BSL/English Interpreters within Yorkshire and the Humber. The report, commissioned by the Regional Language Network Yorkshire & The Humber, was officially launched by its author, Helen Tagg, on 13 December 2007.The Projects Team at Andiamo! are acutely aware of the reality of the current shortage of BSL/English interpreters. Requests from clients for these interpreters are often difficult to satisfy due to interpreters almost always being fully-booked. Keen to learn more about the issues surrounding the provision of BSL/English interpreters, the invitation from the RLN to attend the launch at Centenary House in Leeds appeared to offer the perfect opportunity.Attended by BSL/English interpreters, sign language tutors, members of the Deaf community and staff from the Leeds Deaf and Blind Society, amongst others, the day began with an overview of the report by its author Helen Tagg. Helen began by highlighting the importance of producing such a report - stressing the public and private sector's need to conform with disability legislation, and by emphasising the effect of the lack of BSL/English interpreters on the Deaf community in terms of social exclusion.Next followed a fascinating insight into the reasons behind the shortage of interpreters. What emerged was a picture of a long and expensive route to the career of BSL/English interpreter, of a lack of information at national level concerning the number of Deaf people using BSL and of poor communication and coordination between the different communities involved.About Andiamo!
With the recent news that house prices are falling at their fastest rate since the last property market collapse in 1992 the situation appears bleak for those homeowners who's fixed rate mortgages are up for renewal, and for those who have no other option than to sell. However a leading UK home purchase company, Quickmovenow.com, warns home-owners not to panic over the findings, as there are still viable options available to them. The media is full of stories of sellers facing falling prices, of fixed rate mortgage renewals at ever higher costs and of buy-to-let investors selling up and getting out. However, fewer than five per cent of homeowners will be looking to move this year, fixed rate mortgages renewals due account for less than 3 per cent of mortgages out there and the buy-to-let bubble may have an impact on city centre flats but will hardly scratch the surface of the normal housing market.Similarly the majority of home owners have made no use of their increased wealth a4on paper' as house values increased over the past decade, the fact that they might now fall back five or ten per cent this year is of little consequence. The a4feel good' factor may be lacking but the economic reality of their daily life will be unaffected. The impact for the small minority of home owners who need to move and/or remortgage will, however, be significant. But if the need to move is a necessity there are options available which make for a better financial decision in these difficult markets.Hywel Luke of Quickmovenow.com, a web based company who are market leaders in buying properties to enable clients to move on quickly, says: "Firstly you must be realistic in what you ask for your home. Price is absolutely critical in this market. Look at what other, similar properties are on the market for and consider undercutting them. Remember those other properties on the market have yet to sell at that price, so you have no hope unless you can show any potential buyers that there is a real bargain to gain for purchasing your home. "Secondly, do not panic, there are other methods for selling apart from using the traditional Estate Agent. You could try auction, but anticipate that auctioneers will be looking for a reserve price at least 20 per cent below the realistic current market price. If, on the day, the room has a few committed investors you could do better than this but resign yourself to the fact that some recent auctions have sold fewer than half their lots so the reserve price may be as much as you can hope for."Alternatively, there are a number of house buying companies such as Quickmovenow.com who will buy quickly. Typically they will offer 80-85 per cent of that realistic current value and will complete in two to four weeks. Some may even offer to rent your home back to you. But this is not a facility that Quickmovenow.com provides, preferring to resell its properties in the open market. Be careful of these rent-back schemes because the investors need to make a profit over their mortgage costs so, by definition, this makes it hard to set a rent which is less than your old mortgage payments. We have heard of many cases where people have been evicted after just six months as rents have been hiked to generate investor's profit."

1 Vote(s)

Discovery Initiatives is pleased to announce the launch of a brand new holiday experience to live among the Huaorani people in their ancestral homeland on the Upper Shiripuno River in Ecuador: http://www.discoveryinitiatives.co.uk/discover/trip/Ecuador_And_Galapagos/Amongst_the_Huaorani_People_of_the_Amazon. Justin Wateridge, MD of Discovery Initiatives described the trip as "a4a gritty, authentic jungle and river journey well away from the usual trappings of everyday modern life."The Huaorani tribe have inhabited the headwaters of this part of the Amazon for millennia, living as nomadic hunter gatherers with no outside contact until the arrival of missionaries at the end of the 1950's. Currently numbering approx. 3,000 people, they continue to maintain a largely traditional lifestyle and a fierce reputation as warriors in their 680,000 hectare territory, in spite of the pressures from the exploitations of the oil industry and the encroaching modern world. The main aim of this unique trip is to allow travellers who prefer to take the path less travelled to experience and explore this pristine wilderness, in the company of and through the eyes of the Huaorani guides.Through daily rainforest treks in the forest travellers will learn about its many wonders and from visiting the local Huaorani communities travellers will gain an introduction to their unique way of life and customs. Additional activities will range from cooling dips in the river and trying one's skills with a traditional eight foot long blowgun to an evening's stake out in a hide in the hope of seeing a tapir.Justin Wateridge commented: "A totally unique jungle and river adventure to Ecuador, tour by small plane, dugout canoe and on foot in a remote area. Definitely one not to miss."The dates for this trip are 16th-23rd November 2008. Prices start at 1960.
More than one in four UK fleets is using tracking within their vehicle operations according to new research from fleet solutions provider DigiCore (www.digicore.co.uk). The results from the Vehicle Tracking Survey 2008 - conducted amongst 150 fleet decision makers and influencers - also claim three quarters of companies using a tracking system are achieving value from the technology. The research found that uptake was greatest amongst commercial vehicle fleets (30 per cent) and fleet operators with more than 100 vehicles (31 per cent). Furthermore, penetration was particularly high in the utilities (86 per cent), logistics and road transport (40 per cent), and service management (38 per cent) sectors.Fleet operators achieving payback from their investment in vehicle tracking are achieving a range of benefits including increased productivity (54 per cent), reduced costs (44 per cent), and fleet performance (46 per cent). In terms of reduced costs, fleet operators are now achieving on average a 12 per cent saving on their fuel bill and lowering overtime claims by 13 per cent.In fact, 85 per cent of vehicle tracking users said they were satisfied with their current solutions provider. In many cases, a strong relationship was critical to receiving an effective vehicle tracking solution, and service levels, supplier responsiveness, and back-office support were actually highlighted more often than competitive pricing and product functionality.Commenting on the findings, Tom O'Connor, Managing Director of DigiCore Ltd said: "The results of the Vehicle Tracking Survey 2008, suggest that an increasing number of fleet operators are utilising tracking technology to better manage and control their vehicle operations. However, there is still much work to be done by solutions providers to enhance the image industry and develop systems that best meet the needs of the fleet sector."A full copy of the results can be downloaded at www.digicore.co.uk. About DigicoreDigicore (www.digicore.co.uk) works in partnership with its customers to develop solutions that deliver measurable business and operational benefits by providing total visibility and control of mobile assets and mobile work forces. The Berlitz Ocean Cruising and Cruise Ships guide describes her as "the latest in the quest to build the ideal expedition cruise ship". Constructed by the world-leading Cassens Shipyard in Emden, and launched in November 2003, she boasts a host of advanced design features including technology that sets new standards in sustainable marine environmental practices.Although custom-made for expedition cruising, Orion is the epitome of elegance. No expense has been spared when it comes to the quality of fittings and furnishings, and the range and calibre of onboard recreational facilities are nothing short of five-star. Orion's luxurious appointments means she is more mega-yacht than cruise ship and her guests are few; around just 50 couples, all cared for in 5-star comfort by a crew of 75.
Classic Lawns are pleased to announce the sale of the award-winning MO Bacter organic lawn fertiliser (http://www.classic-lawns.co.uk/acatalog/scarifiers.html). MO Bacter is an organic fertiliser which feeds the lawn, destroys the moss and leaves no black debris.MO Bacter (new to the UK) does all three - and the bacteria digests the dead moss, removing the need for raking. This unique product, from Viano of Belgium, is an award-winning slow-release granular fertiliser which eradicates moss by secondary action, feeds grass and improves the soil.Moss dies from an excess of potassium but leaves no black debris. The dead moss is then digested by the bacteria in MO Bacter (npk: 5-5-20). MO Bacter becomes active when the soil temperature reaches 10C. For best results, apply MO Bacter in March, April and May (or early autumn). It is supplied in 20 kilo bags. One kilogram treats up to 10 square metres, so a bag will be enough to treat up to 200 square metres.Peter Mulcock, MD of Classic Lawns, commented: "In trials two inches of moss was virtually eliminated in six months, with no need for scarifying to remove debris. And stonework was completely unmarked. This product will revolutionise the way moss is treated on grass near stonework. In January MO Bacter won the Turf Professional Best New Product of the Year at the BTME show in Harrogate, which shows its quality."Gardeners interested in any of the above offers or information should be directed to http://www.classiclawns.co.uk or call 01285 760799.About Classic LawnsClassic Lawns (http://www.classiclawns.co.uk) specialise in all types of garden machinery from reputable brands such as Hayter, Honda and Mountfield.
