Charming Inns Decorated in Diamonds This Holiday Season

CHARLESTON, S.C.— Diamonds are certainly a best friend to Charming Inns, a group of seven historic inns and a restaurant in Charleston and Columbia, S.C. The Wentworth Mansion® recently received AAA’s Five Diamond award for the fifth year in a row, while AAA announced Friday that the company’s John Rutledge House Inn received its Four Diamond award for the 19th time in a row, more than any other hotel or inn in South Carolina. The award-winning restaurant Circa 1886, located on the grounds of the Wentworth Mansion®, also made the AAA Four Diamond list for its eighth time.

“AAA’s requirements for a Four-Diamond rating are rigorous, and those that win it are among the best hotels and restaurants in the world,” says David E. Parsons, president and CEO of AAA Carolinas. “Only three percent of the more than 45,000 annual inspections conducted nationally result in a Four-Diamond rating.”

“Any time you receive AAA’s Four Diamond award it is an honor, and the fact that our properties continue to receive it year after year is astounding,” says Richard Widman, general partner of Wentworth Mansion® and president of its management company, Charming Inns®. “Guests who visit our historic inns and restaurant throughout the state will find the same high standards and commitment to service and luxury at each one.”

A designated U.S. Department of the Interior national landmark, the John Rutledge House Inn is an AAA Four-Diamond, 19-room inn located at 116 Broad St. in the heart of the historic district in Charleston, S.C. Formerly the home of John Rutledge, one of the signers of the U.S. Constitution, and constructed in 1763, the inn is one of only 15 remaining homes that belonged to those signers and the only to provide overnight accommodations for guests. The John Rutledge House Inn is also a member of the Historic Hotels of America and Select Registry Classic Inns of the South and was listed as 69th on the list of Top US Hotels by Condé Nast Traveler. Set inside a historic carriage house on the grounds of the award-winning Wentworth Mansion® hotel at 149 Wentworth St. in Charleston, S.C., Circa 1886 is a AAA Four-Diamond award-winning restaurant offering southern cuisine with a twist. Executive Chef Marc Collins combines the French, English, Caribbean and African influences popular during 1886, the year the Wentworth Mansion and its two-story red brick carriage house were built, to invoke the culinary traditions of that era. Circa 1886 has also received numerous accolades, including the DiRoNA award for fine dining in North America, as well as the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence. The restaurant is open for dinner Monday through Saturday from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m., and prices range from $7 to $10 for first courses, $18 to $33 for featured courses, and desserts start at $8. For more information about booking any of the dinners, please visit www.circa1886.com or call (843) 853-7828.

All located in the heart of the historic district, the six Charming Inns properties in Charleston, S.C., include Kings Courtyard Inn, Victoria House Inn, Fulton Lane Inn, John Rutledge House Inn, Wentworth Mansion® and restaurant Circa 1886. Charming Inns also owns Claussens Inn in Columbia. Each property has distinct historic architecture and features, but all feature luxurious accommodations, commitment to excellence and dedication to guests.
