Artist-writer-entrepeneur, Steamy Raimon, returned to Las Vegas late September after two years in the New states (New Mexico, New Jersey, and New York). Somehow, he missed New Hampshire. Steamy returns to Las Vegas in a big way. Currently living in Henderson, he has already participated in the goings-on around town and intends to be much more active in the Las Vegas creative community. Steamy attended the annual Las Vegas Artists Guild party at McMullan’s (where he rejoined the guild) last weekend, as well as Bikefest at Freemont Street and Cashman Center. Steamy has also been busy getting the word out about the upcoming motor sports poker run, Wild Wolf Charity Run being held this October the 19th. The event starts and ends at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, with appointed stops all around the city. Many influential people and celebrities are expected to attend. An after-party is in the planning stage and details of it will be announced in the near future. Wild Wolf Charity Run is sponsored by several Las Vegas businesses and aids the children’s charities of Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation, and Spirit Therapies (challenged children training with horses). Steamy was commissioned to do the centerpiece art for the event, and in the spirit of good will and generosity, donated the use of his Wild Wolf design to the cause. The Wild Wolf will be seen many places on the 19th, appears on event promotion materials, and is printed on event award trophies. Steamy will be signing posters at the speedway. Be sure to stop by and say hello. (The Wild Wolf design may be purchased via Steamy’s Bottomless T-shirts, Coffee Mug Connection, and Cap Stand sections at www.cafepress.com/surfshack.) If you are proud of your car, motorcycle, or truck and would like to participate in or be a sponsor (with a table set up at the speedway) of the Wild Wolf Charity Run, contact (702) 948-5080 or (702) 243-2246. The cost is low, it’s for good causes, and it will be a fun Sunday.

Even though Steamy was born in Brooklyn, New York and raised on Long Island, he has been influenced by Western culture since a child, and readily adapted to a Western mindset when first moving to San Diego in 1985. From 2001 to 2006, Steamy Raimon lived in the Green Valley area. In 2006, he visited New Mexico for a short while (and liked it), and then traveled back to the East Coast. It wasn’t long before he realized he had left “home”. After two years of appeals from friends, the memory of big skies, desert colors and landscapes, the flavors and scents of the Southwest, and the sights and sounds of the most dynamic city on planet Earth, he was finally lured back to valley known as Las Vegas. Steamy packed his easel, light table, computer and peripherals into his Nissan Versa hatchback and hit the highways. He and Muse, his adopted cat from Las Vegas, joined the ranks of the many who left and returned to Sin City. There are a few names for it, but there’s just no other place like it. A person can get spoiled. Who leaves Las Vegas, many times, returns to Las Vegas.

A little background on Steamy: Steamy is a US Navy veteran, a widower, earned a degree in International Business, worked as a supervisory management analyst, an art dealer, and a few other occupations in his time. His writing and art have appeared within the pages of many magazines like Easyriders, Biker, Hustler, Swank, Score, Tattoo, Dragon, Writer’s Digest, The Writer, Trip Sheet, Dazed & Confused, numerous trade and education publications, and even the genteel Saturday Evening Post. His cartoons appear in the National Lampoon books, “Favorite Cartoons of the 21st Century”, “Not Fit For Print”; and a tribute book to Woody Guthrie, “This Toon Is Your Toon” (Smithsonian Institute collection). His work has also appears in ads, in cartoon strips and features, and on websites. He is a cash prize winner of the 2006 National Contact Center Cartoon Contest. Steamy owns and operates his popular e-store, Steamy’s Surf Shack, at www.cafepress.com/surfshack, where he offers fifteen sections of original ideas on t-shirts, coffee mugs, buttons, greeting cards, and practically everything under the Sun. You’ll find some of Steamy’s hilarious cartoons sprinkled throughout the store, but primarily in the Steamy Cartoons section. Other themes are politics, Native American causes, occupations, hobbies, alternative lifestyles, and yes, even Surfing! It’s quite an amazing place and well worth a visit the next time you surf the net. It happens Steamy is a ‘spacer. He enjoys the online community and invites people to join his social network, which doubles as a portfolio site complete with a great selection of eclectic music, at www.myspace.com/ssurfshack. Quintessentially prolific, Steamy writes poetry, screenplays, humor, and articles. You’ll see much more of his writing in 2009. Steamy also fills the position of Creative Director at DNA Solutions (Dun Now Advertising, Dragon Wolf Management), and is a member of Las Vegas Artists Guild, and The Wisenheimer (a cartoonist online message board loosely connected with the National Cartoonists Society). He is a past member of Cartoonists Guild, Artists Equity, Southern California Cartoonists Society, San Diego Corvette Owners Club, and several other hobby clubs and associations. Formal art training was at The School of Visual Arts (NYC), and the school of life.

Steamy is excited about the move back and has been visiting his old neighbors and renewing friendships in the art, business, and entertainment world of greater Las Vegas. He is also interested in using his talents to create great art and writing for Nevada and neighboring States. Serious proposals for fine art, logos, branding, product design, illustration, cartoons, concepts, screenwriting, humor and other writing are welcome. Steamy can be reached at (702) 339-6666 or steamypromo@gmail.com. Steamy has an ultra-cool business card he will be more than happy to give you.
