JACKSONVILLE, FL – Soon to be superstar filmmaker, Ralph P.J. Johnson has one of his films “HONEY GIRL” as an entry in one of the world’s most premiere film festivals; the London Film Festival (LFF). And he has done it with only a weekend film course and very little money.

Ralph P.J. Johnson (a.k.a. P.J.) began his artistic career as a Professional Bassist. Working freelance with some of music’s greatest artist, he learned early on about the
need for artistic growth. Eventually P.J. evolved into composing, producing music videos, talk and comedy television shows, and other musical artist.

As a Screenwriter, Director, Composer, and now Motivational Speaker; P.J. has managed to do what no one else has been known to do in the film industry.
Intermittently over a two month period in 2003, P.J. filmed three (3) full feature films. Two of them are now in worldwide distribution through CA based Echelon Studios. The third film “Bringing Good to the Game” (a hip-hop movie) is still in the can awaiting post
production. One of the best parts is that P.J. has done all of this for less than what Hollywood pays for one day of shooting on a “low budget” film.

And now P.J.’s film (HONEY GIRL) stands along side of some of the best films currently produced in the world. That includes anything coming out of Hollywood studios. It is clear that P.J. has taken the art of independent filmmaking to another level. A level that others are sure to imitate, but never duplicate.

Now the best part of all of this is that “HONEY GIRL” is a film which uses the language of the streets to bring the spirit of community empowerment to youth and women. A disturbing (but effective) move on behalf of it’s filmmaker. I personally believe that as film goers, we must support these kinds of filmmakers, as well as these kinds of films. If we can spend hundreds of millions of dollars supporting Dark Nights, we should also support filmmakers such as Ralph P.J. Johnson who (with their own money) bring light to our Dark Situations. Bravo P.J., Bravo.
