Sanijet, Inc. filed suit in federal district court in the Northern District of Texas, Dallas Division, alleging that Lexor International, Inc. and other defendants infringed three of its patents relating to pipeless water jets for whirlpool baths and spas. On April 14, 2008, Judge Boyle entered the Court’s holding as to four claim terms. The Court agreed with Sanijet's proposed claim constructions on three of those terms. Under patent law, a court must determine what a disputed claim term means, this is called “claim construction.” Once the claim is construed, the jury applies the claim construction to determine whether patent infringement has occurred.
