Sparkip Adds Four Leading Universities And Institutions

3,800 Listings Position Site as Largest Actively Managed Source for Licensable Technologies

2007-12-13, SparkIP
ATLANTA (December 13, 2007) – SparkIP, an online intellectual property (IP) network for the scientific community, today announces a major company milestone just two months after its launch at the Licensing Executives Society (LES) annual conference. The site, www.sparkip.com, now hosts more than 3,800 fully-searchable licensable technologies, making it the world’s largest actively managed marketplace for top institutions to promote their available technologies.

The significant growth in the portfolio of available technologies is largely due to new partnerships with Stanford University, the National Institutes of Health (NIH), The Johns Hopkins University and Tufts University. These institutions join previous launch partners Duke University, Georgia Tech, North Carolina State, and EPFL of Switzerland in committing to promote and manage their licensable technologies at SparkIP’s online marketplace. The 3,800 listings can be viewed in a traditional browse mode or within SparkIP’s innovative SparkClusterTM maps, which place new technologies in the context of a visual landscape of more than 40,000 self-organizing and self-naming clusters.
“We are proud to promote the dynamic innovation coming out of these elite institutions,” said Ed Trimble, CEO of SparkIP. “We believe that as other universities, research labs and corporations elect to promote and manage their available technologies on SparkIP, we can reach a critical mass of buyers and sellers that result in a vibrant marketplace, which will benefit the entire scientific community.”
