Sara Sullivan and Heather Maslonka have been friends for many years. They have celebrated many of life’s experiences together, as all friends do, including becoming wives and mothers. Their latest celebration is the launch of their new company My Culture.
My Culture is the result of Sara’s quest for gifts that celebrate international adoption and a child’s birth country. Sara and her husband, Shawn, have two internationally adopted children; Emma, who is six years old and was born in Cambodia, and Max who is three years old and was born in Nepal. Through the adoption of their own children, they met many other families who have adopted internationally and wanted to purchase gifts for them to celebrate this wonderful occasion. Many families celebrate a child’s Adoption Day annually with gifts and cards much like they celebrate a traditional birthday. When Sara discussed with Heather the challenge of finding high quality gifts to celebrate these children and families, their business idea was born.
My Culture specializes in designing custom adoption products that will help a child identify with their birth country. “We believe that when you honor the culture of a child, you honor that child.” Sara and Heather have created a beautiful line of customized puzzles, clothing, glassware, and rugs. These My Culture products can be personalized with flags, maps, names and dates, and inspirational quotes.
