September 16, 2008 (SAN JOSE, COSTA RICA) - The Costa Rican Development Corporation (CRDC) has announced plans to promote its luxury residential community, Cerro Fresco (www.cerrofresco.com), during the world famous Billabong World Surfing Games, scheduled to be held during the summer of 2009. This strategic advertising plan will introduce millions of people to the high-end estate communities CRDC is quickly becoming known for across the globe.

Following the Costa Rican Surfing Federation’s (FSC) confirmation that Jaco´, Costa Rica is the chosen location for the International Surfing Association’s (ISA) World Surfing Games (WSG), the Costa Rican Development Corporation seized the opportunity to be a part of this popular event. The WSG is the world’s most publicized and prestigious surfing tournament. The games in 2009 will be sponsored by Billabong, the well-known snow and sea surfing gear and clothing manufacturer, and will be viewed by millions of people, with an estimated eighty million watching through the Internet alone.

The expectation for the number of game participants is high for the 2009 World Surfing Games. Surfing teams from at least forty countries will be registering for the tournament, the highest number of registrants for these games to date. The 2009 WSG is scheduled to begin on July 31, 2009, about one week after California’s U.S. Open surfing tournament ends, allowing ample time for the competitors to travel from the United States to Costa Rica. With the combination of a large number of tournament athletes, millions of viewers worldwide, and Costa Rica’s already flourishing tourist trade, Costa Rican Development Corporation can expect to reach a massive audience with its advertising at the 2009 Billabong World Surfing Games.
